Fish burger with remoulade is a true Norwegian classic that reminds me of summer holidays by the coast. It’s quick to make, healthy, and tastes heavenly. You can use cod, haddock, or any white fish you have available.
Trust me, this is a burger that will surprise most people – even those who aren’t usually keen on fish. The remoulade provides a creamy and flavorful contrast to the tender fish burger.
This fish burger is perfect as a casual meal and is a great option for those who love Norwegian street food. Served in a soft burger bun with crispy lettuce and fresh tomato, it’s a winner!
Ingredients
- 400 g white fish fillet, such as cod or haddock
- 1 egg
- 0.5 dl milk
- 1 tbsp flour
- 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh dill
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- salt and pepper
- 1 tbsp butter for frying
- 4 burger buns
- 4 lettuce leaves
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 8 slices pickled cucumber
- 4 tbsp remoulade
Instructions
1. Process the fish fillet in a food processor until smooth. Add the egg, milk, flour, dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Blend again until everything is well combined.
2. Shape the fish mixture into four equal patties.
3. Heat a pan over medium heat and melt the butter. Fry the burgers for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are cooked through and have a golden crust.
4. Quickly warm the burger buns in the pan or toaster.
5. Spread 1 tbsp of remoulade on the bottom of each burger bun. Add a lettuce leaf, fish burger, tomato, and pickled cucumber. Top with the remaining bun.
6. Serve immediately with an extra dollop of remoulade on the side, if desired.
Notes
Feel free to add a bit of chili for a spicier version.
